The ‘Last Great Freehold Wilderness’ comprises a rare subdivided parcel of freehold land for sale, in Cape York Queensland. Its situated in part of the Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Park, at Lockhart River, Far North Queensland, Australia, approximately 500 kms north of Cairns.

How many blocks are for sale and how large are they?
We currently have 10 blocks of land for sale (currently only 6 left !). They range in size from approximately 40 acres up to 80 acres ( 15Ha – 32Ha). All blocks have been fully approved with Title and RP registration from the Cook Shire Council.

What is the price of each block?
Prices start at $450,000 (AUD) and range up to $675,000 (AUD) depending on the block.

Where are they located?
Situated in Far North Queensland in the region of Lockhart River, in the Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Park, some 500kms North of Cairns, QLD.

How do you get there?
The easiest way to get there is to fly. There are 5 flights that depart Cairns each week. Its approximately a 1.5 hour flight. Alternatively, you can drive there. There are sealed roads from Cairns for most of the journey. Alternatively, for the keen fishermen you can get there by boat cruising up the eastern seaboard of Queensland, visiting the many tropical islands and coral reefs along the way.

Are they rainforest blocks or cleared blocks?
The blocks are a mixture of pristine rainforest some with natural cleared areas. A variety of sites have a natural clearing for a house and maintenance sheds, water tanks etc.

Do any have beach frontage?
While none of the blocks have actual beach frontage, some have an elevated ridge with views out to the ocean with cooling sea breezes most of the year round. The land is situated in the midst of the Great Barrier Reef area with pristine white beaches and snorkelling only 6 kms away!

What Activities can you do there?
There is a host of wonderful activities to do and attractions to see, in the Last Great Wilderness area. These include but are not limited to:

What facilities does the Lockhart River community have?
Located only 10 minutes’ drive away, the Lockhart River community offers great infrastructure making this land ideal compared to other remote rural land offerings that don’t have what our blocks offer. Infrastructure includes: a Police station, an IGA style supermarket for provisions, a hospital, Doctor/Nurses and medical services, a post office, fuel depot and more!

Is there power, water and sewerage available?
Yes, there is local power located at most properties entrances. Buyers will install their own septic tanks as needed and rain fall is abundant and clean and pure natural spring water can be obtained close to the surface. All easily stored in on-site water tanks.

Can I build a home there?
Yes of course you can. In fact it’s highly recommended. Live there permanently or build and just use it as your perfect getaway holiday retreat!

Could I develop an Eco Tourism business in the region?
For those interested in investing in the area, it’s an idea location for a true Eco Tourism concept. Natural habitats, abundance of wildlife, mountains, rainforests, river eco systems, lush pasture plains, the Great Barrier Reef, hiking, trail walking, fishing, diving, sailing and all the other activities makes this area a perfect development for Eco Tourism. The Local Cook Shire Council has said it will be supportive of Development Applications put in for Eco Tourism development.

The roads in surrounding areas are all weather roads.

Is there exotic wildlife and bird-watching in the region?
The area is renowned for its exotic wildlife and active bird life all in vibrant exotic colours. Indeed, it’s the home to the rare and exotic Palm cockatoo, found only in this area in the whole world! Is there freshwater fishing close by?
Yes, there are many freshwater creeks, rivers and tributaries running throughout the whole region. The freshwater rivers are home to the great Barramundi, a prized fish and much sought after catch! Often the most expensive fish on restaurant menus, here owners can go catch their own at leisure.

Can I get my own car there?
Yes. Its possible to drive there from Cairns. In fact, the area facilitates many travellers driving up from Cairns and beyond each year.

Can I have a boat there and do I have access to the ocean?
Yes, you can have a boat here and there are no restrictions on its use. There is beach access to the ocean via 2 fully maintained boat ramps (free to use) just 1km east of the Lockhart River community and only 6kms from the land. The Great Barrier Reef awaits you and your friends!

How many flights a week arrive at Lockhart River airport?
There are currently 7 flights scheduled every week from Cairns.
